1. Introduction

So, you want to level up your drumline?

Which of the below sounds most like you:

  1. A director of a small band trying to do everything yourself as you get your program up and running?
  2. A drum instructor with limited assistance and/or experience building a new drumline from the ground up?
  3. You have an established drumline and you’re looking for ways to augment your exercise and technique program to make it more successful?

Regardless of where you are on that spectrum, this resource is for you!

My name is Rob Wiltbank, and I’ve been a music educator and composer for over 30 years, specializing in the marching percussion arts.  I’m a member of Vic Firth’s and Zildjian’s Education Teams, and I’ve performed with and instructed for numerous drumlines in DCI, WGI, DCA, the NFL, as well as at the college and high school levels.  I’m an adjudicator with the National Judges Association and the Director of Percussion at Delaware Tech.  Of all of the credentials and accolades I can list, they all pale in comparison to a single, small fact: I love The Activity™.

This resource will never take the place of a qualified, in-person instructor, but there is a need for this free resource for developing programs to grow. If you have the budget and availability, consider hiring an instructor to oversee your percussion program.

I love serving as an educator, counselor, and patron of the arts. I thrive from the joy and happiness that kids derive from being in band, and if that’s the reason you’re here, then I thank you for your dedication contributions to the marching arts, and I hope this information helps you Level Up your drumline!
